Shanah tovah! Rosh Hashanah 5787 brought our community together under this year’s High Holy Days theme, Open the Gates: Awaken to What Matters, in the sanctuary and on our livestream.
We welcomed the new year on Friday evening, September 11, at CRC. Rabbi Karen Kriger Bogard’s drash, “The Grammar of T’shuvah,” set the tone for the season, and it has since been viewed more than 6,400 times.
On Saturday morning, Rabbi Randy Fleisher led Rosh Hashanah Morning at CRC while Rabbis Karen and Daniel Bogard led a second service down the street at First Unitarian Church. Back at CRC, a crowd of shofar blowers, young and not so young, filled the bimah to sound the call of the new year, and we lingered afterward over a sweet kiddush and a reflection table inviting everyone to begin 5787 with purpose and intention.
On Sunday, the Second Day Rosh Hashanah musical service closed out the holiday, with Rabbi Daniel Bogard’s drash, “The Abraham of Sodom.”
