Ukrainian Refugee Project Meeting
The Torah contains no less than 36 passages about how we are called to welcome outsiders with justice and kindness. At present, the CRC community has the wonderful opportunity to sponsor a Ukrainian family through HIAS Welcome Circles. This act of welcome allows us to truly live our Jewish values and will provide Ukrainian newcomers the opportunity to begin again. We are in need of a few dedicated volunteers and knowledge of our community resources to get this project underway.
As a family sponsor, we will take on tasks like finding initial housing, stocking the pantry, connecting children to school, providing initial income support, and helping adults to find employment.
We have a wonderful group of members who recently helped us welcome an Afghan family with great success and are in search of a few people to add to this group and would love to learn about the services and resources that our community can offer to assist our volunteer group in settling our family.
If you have experience in social work, law, fundraising, sponsoring a refugee family, or other skills or services that would be valuable to this project, tell us about it here
Please join us on Wednesday, August 3 at 7:30 pm on Zoom to learn more about this effort and how you can help.
