Erev Sukkot Shabbat with Nefesh Mountain
Nefesh Mountain, the acclaimed band that blends Appalachian roots music with Jewish tradition and spirit, comes to St. Louis to join our Erev Sukkot Shabbat service at Central Reform Congregation on Friday, September 25, 2026.
The evening begins at 5:30 pm with a gathering in CRC’s sukkah, where David Lazaroff will lead a discussion with band leaders Doni Zasloff and Eric Lindberg from Nefesh Mountain. There will be an expanded oneg available for taking snacks into the sukkah to enjoy with the discussion.
We’ll move into the sanctuary at around 6:15 pm for a full Erev Sukkot Kabbalat Shabbat service featuring CRC’s Premier Mandolinist David Goldenberg collaborating with Nefesh Mountain providing music.
David, a longtime member of CRC’s House Band and leader of its Klezmer jam, toured and recorded with Nefesh Mountain for years before returning to St. Louis. He will rejoin the band on stage for the service, and a few surprise collaborations may happen!
Founded in 2015 by Eric Lindberg and Doni Zasloff, Nefesh Mountain has recorded and performed with bluegrass greats including Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas and Tony Trischka, made its Grand Ole Opry debut in 2021, and released the double album Beacons in 2025.
As always – All are welcome.
