Join us for this insightful series as Rabbi Randy begins class in 2020! As confidence in the authorship of the Torah and the necessity of the laws in the Talmud waned for the early Reform Jews of the 19th century, many gravitated to the strong voices of ethics and social justice found in the books of the Biblical prophets. To this day, the words of the Hebrew prophets remain inspiring to liberal Jews. In this class we will look at the values and concerns of the prophetic books, and study how that literature was adapted to the modern era by the reformers. We will also contemplate contemporary voices and actions of prophecy and discuss some of the liberal critiques of the Prophets as well. I hope you can jin us for one, some or all of the classes.
