Food Pantry, Coat Closet, and Collections

"The work of tzedakah (righteous sharing) will yield shalom for all." --Isaiah

CRC reaches out to its neighbors in need year-round through the Jewish Food Pantry and through our Tikkun Closet. In addition, we regularly participate in short-term collection drives, ranging from a food drive to meet a shortage at the Jewish Food Pantry to an annual winter coat drive.

The Jewish Food Pantry operates a satellite site at CRC. On the second Wednesday of every month, food is distributed to families in the community.  Donations for the St. Louis Jewish Food Pantry can be made any time the building is open - simply put the items in the bin in the CRC Coat Closet. Volunteers are needed from 11-1 on the second Wednesday of each month to help distribute food at CRC. If you're interested in helping, contact John Terranova at john@centralreform.org or 314-361-1564 ext. 105.

The Tikkun Closet is available to everyone, and is located at the main entrance of the building. People are free to come and take as they need, anytime the building is open. The Tikkun Closet offers clothes and ready-to-eat food donated by CRC members. Tikkun Closet donations may be made during regular office hours, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Items should be brought to the congregational coat closet off the oneg area, next to the Sanctuary.

If you would like to make donations to either of these ongoing outreach programs, we ask the following:

Clothing: All clothing should be clean, gently-used condition, and brought on hangers. We are always in need of baby's, children's, and men's clothing, especially.

Food: Only non-expired, non-perishable food items may be donated. Please, no glass containers.

Other Items: We accept items such as gently used toys in the Tikkun Closet. To find out whether we can accept the items you have to donate, please call our office before bringing in the items. You can call (314) 361-3919.
