social responsibility
CRC encourages its members to take an active role in advocating for important social justice issues that reflect our mission and core values of Tikkun Olam, the repair of the world.
While the congregation cannot speak for all its members on all issues, our members can make their own voices heard on the important issues of the day. To this end, we periodically send out "action alerts" asking members to contact decision-makers in relation to an issue the Board of Directors has determined is consistent with CRC's core values.
Action alerts are most frequently sent out through our e-mail system, in order to allow our members to participate in as timely a manner as possible. At times, we will also post action alerts on this page.
In recent years, CRC has been involved in working on a range of issues, including:
Promoting passage and implementation of the Affordable Care Act (federal health reform)
Defending against proposed cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, mental health care, and social services
Protecting reproductive rights, reproductive healthcare, and sexuality education
Supporting stem cell research, with the promise of treating and curing diseases that affect millions of Americans
Advocating for the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, including opposing discriminatory marriage bans and supporting proactive anti-discrimination, anti-bullying and anti-hate crime measures
Working for economic justice for all Missourians, including supporting a statewide initiative to increase the minimum wage
