a Jewish presence in the City of St. Louis

a place for everyone

LGBT Community

Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community are always welcome at CRC and are fully included in our programming, education, and lifecycle events. LGBT individuals and families serve on our Board of Directors, work in our office, participate in holiday and Shabbat celebrations, teach in our religious school, and attend our education programs. Our rabbis regularly hold wedding celebrations, bris/baby naming ceremonies, b'nai mitzvah ceremonies, and other lifecycle events for members of the LGBT community and their loved ones.

Full equality for the LGBT community is a tikkun olam priority for CRC. We are a leader in the annual Jewish Community entry in the St. Louis Pride Parade, having participated in Pride Fest as a congregation for many years. We work with other local agencies to advance non-discrimination legislation at local, state and national levels, and host educational programs on LGBT issues.

Finally, our LGBT Chavurah provides opportunities for LGBT individuals to socialize, worship and study with other LGBT Jews. All are welcome at our events. For information on upcoming Chavurah programs, please contact Maggie Duwe at 314-361-1564 ext. 112 or maggie@centralreform.org.
