ADVOCACY - TAKE ACTION
Update on SCHIP and CHAMP Bills
Thank you to everyone who has called about the SCHIP and CHAMP Bills in Congress. We are happy to report that the House of Representatives has passed the CHAMP Act – this is great news for children! Please continue to call Senators Bond (202-224-5721) and McCaskill (202-224-6154) and encourage them to support a full reauthorization of SCHIP and to oppose any amendments that would reduce the eligibility of Missouri children.
We also apologize for a typo in Representative Russ Carnahan’s phone number. The correct number is 202-225-2571.
URGENT Action Needed on Darfur!
Please contact Senator Bond at (202) 224-5721 and Senator McCaskill at (202) 224-6154 and urge them to support the Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act. Click here for more information, a sample phone script, and information on e-mailing the Senators. This bill, already passed by the House of Representatives, is a critical and important way to make a difference in Darfur. Please click here.

Four Thursdays, August 2, 9, 16, and 23, 6:15 to 8:15 pmish
(bring a sack dinner if you wish)
On Yom Kippur afternoon we read Jonah, a story about a big fish and a reluctant prophet. Huh? What's that all about? There must be more to this story than meets the eye if it gets such a great time slot! Let's study together to find out what is going on and to increase our readiness for the Days of Awe.
There is no required fee for this class, but if you are moved to do so, you can privately make a donation to the Education Fund. Please contact Michael.

Please join us as we learn through many avenues “to feel the balance” and move into our Holy Days.
Please RSVP to Maggie at (314) 361-1564 x112 and leave your name, phone number, and email address.

Join "Home Plate" - Make Dinner for Wash U Students Away From Home - Starting this Fall
Washington University is looking for warm-hearted families to host 2-3 students for casual dinner and conversation. Help them feel at home in their new city and your family can enjoy the company of Wash U's incredibly smart and talented kids. We only require that you have 2-3 get-togethers over the course of the academic year. We also try to match students to family interests.
E-mail Risa Zwerling at zwerling @wustl.edu to sign up! We will ask you to host your first dinner this late September or early October - we will provide you with an option of three different dates just to get started.
