Adult: Interfaith Workshop Series Interfaith couples make up about 25% of the CRC congregation. They are couples who are diverse in terms of race, economics, and sexual orientation. The bottom line at CRC is our cornerstone philosophy of inclusion. The couples are active members of the congregation, are members of our circles, participate in classes, lifecycle events, and are on our governing Board. We are also mindful of the difficult issues that can be a part of an interfaith relationship or marriage. Hence, we have a series of workshops that run for six-month periods, with the hope that at the end of the series, a community has formed and will continue. The series is taught and facilitated by our Rabbis, the Education Director, and the Outreach and Interfaith Coordinator. The workshops are informative and include time for discussion. The series includes the following topics: what does my religion mean to me? Why is religion important in my life? Why is religion important in our life as a couple? How do we commemorate and honor our own wedding, births of our children, coming of age, and death, mourning and burial? What about children? And many, many more topics. Workshops meet on the third Sunday of the month at 12:00pm. Attendees must register before the beginning of any given series. The series closes after the second session. Continuing Interfaith Once participants complete the workshop series, they may choose to continue meeting with other couples who also took part. The Continuing Interfaith Group meets monthly on the third Sunday at 10:00am. For more information on this series, including how to register for the next session, please contact Maggie Duwe (pronounced Dewey) at 314.361.1564 ext 112 or maggie@centralreform.org. |
